i need help
so i'm still trying to find a decent flight and so far the cheapest i've found that will work for us is almost 500 dollars and we just can't afford that. we need to fly out of either salt lake or boise (salt lake would be much better because we have somewhere free to park) the night of july 18th. (probably after 7) and we need to fly back july 25th (or the day before). if anyone has time to help me look for a flight please do so. thanks in advance for your help

How about leaving SLC at 6:10 Saturdy morning and getting in to Charlotte at 3pm? That's a few hours after the reunion is supposed to start, but it's $332. Best I've found so far...that dumb final is really messing things up!
I'm really surprised that his professor won't let him take it at a different time :o(
the president of our school is really dumb. he has this obsession with making sure every student stays through the last day of class, so he mandates that the teachers can't let finals be taken early

Wow, um, ok...I'll take that in the spirit of your frustration with the situation and not as a slam against one of your Area Authorities.
Just so you know it's not about him, the real BYU has the same policy about finals and has ever since I started in 1993. That said, some professors work with you and some don't. I think the only thing I asked for an exception for was Papa's funeral and that was to take a couple late rather than early (he died the day of my first final) so I could go to the funeral. The final schedule is available before you register for the class.
first off christie, no i really think he is dumb. he has made policies that i (and every other person i know) feels are stupid and inappropriate for this school. second president clark was not called to be our president. he was asked to do the job by inspired men but it is still his job. he was not sustained.(he made sure to state this himself in a devotional) 3rd this isn't just a policy... he threatens a failure for any class missed that day for any reason. also seth's final schedule was not available to him when classes started because clark made this policy after the semester started. seth would normally only have one final on fridays because many of his professors like to use the testing center which allows you to take the test on one of 2-3 three days but he forbade this. he believes that every student (whether they have a friday class or not) should have a final on friday, therefore seth has no finals on the first two days of finals and 5 on the last. so no i'm not backing down from my previous statement, he's dumb, and not just in this situation but in many others... don't get me started.
Actually, I've love to get you started. I'd love to hear one other specific policy that is dumb and why it is dumb.
That really stinks that there is no wiggle room for the professors to work with you. I ALWAYS left early for home during Christmas and always took my last day or 2 of exams early. And I never had a really good excuse. Just wanted to not miss out on some family get-togethers. I LOVED it when you could take a test at the testing center whenever as well! 5 exams in one day... whew! That is brutal! It is a shame to make such a blanket policy when sometimes certain classes and exam types lend themselves to it not being a big deal in taking a test a day or 2 or even 3 early. I did not know BYU Utah had a policy like that... if so, I know at least 10 professors that broke it for me... hehe! I also took a lot of classes from the same professor, so he always cut me a break. I was a teachers pet I suppose! I really feel your frustration and I hope you can find a good flight. They were saying the flights were skyrocketing! I HATE the gas prices right now!!! It all comes down to that! I can not wait to see you!!! And meet your Lily!!! We will have lots of fun!
