why i'd consider voting for hilary

if she could actually fix the healthcare system i would vote for her. we just got back from the emergency room where they held us in a room with a screaming infant for 2 hrs to tell us that they don't treat infants. at the same time i told the doc that lily hadn't eaten in 5 hours and he told me to hold her off on feeding til i could call her doc at 8 in the morning!!! not feeding an infant for 15 hours in rediculous. anyway i hate doctors... they took 4 months to diagnois my husband with a tumor the size of a racquet ball (with a doctor looking at his scan and not seeing it during his second emergency room visit) and now they wont do anything for my kid...

Lindsey,

We had a similar experience when we took Gabe to the ER with RSV - the first one wouldn't see him because he was too young. Then when we took him to the next one, and I told them he had a fever, the nurse asked if I had given him anything for it and was dumbfounded because I hadn't. EVERY single website I had read, and his pediatrician, had ALL said not to give an infant anything for a fever. I thought, "And YOU are the one treating my baby?!" It was a horrible experience. I have had similar experiences with family doctors too. I only trust (some) pediatricians now.

Well, I don't have kids but I have quite a bit of medical history. I mean, dude, I had a birth defect no one knew anything about. I know my mom has had to deal with a lot of doctors over the years. I remeber her telling me about an infection I developed from one of my surgeries when I was 2. She took me to the doctor who performed the surgery and my mom said no matter what she said he didn't even budge from behind his desk. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, "she'll be fine." Two days later I had a fever of 102 and my mom took me to another one my doctors that was on this board. He rushed me to have an emergency surgery the isntant he looked at me.

This of course is a worse case scenario and it wasn't meant to scare you. There are good doctors out there it just finding them thats not so fun. I wouldn't be here if there weren't some good doctors. I think after a while to you can kind of see it in their eyes whether or not you can trust them. Soon enough you'll become a pro and filter them out pretty good. I not a mother and I probably could not comprehend what your going through but I know that you guys are being watched out for. We'll keep you in our prayers.

Okay..wow..I talked a little to long there. I swear you get me on anything medical and I take off. Sorry for taking up so much space Lindsey! Let us know how everything goes with the doctors!

Just need to point out, Lindsey, that the kind of problems you are facing would be MUCH WORSE under the kind of nationalized system Hillary wants.
Also, doctors aren't all-powerful, and sometimes there ISN'T anything they can do, especially for a fussy infant. That was a hard thing to learn in the NICU, when Amelia would be crying and, even there, nothing could be done. The worst was when they had to stop her feedings for a time.
Katie and Ashley gave you a lot of good advice in your other post. Reflux wouldn't likely be getting worse at this age, but examine her feeding habits closely to see if anything else has changed.
Amelia was on meds for reflux )(most preemies have it)in the NICU but they weaned her off them by the time she came home because some of them can have long term effects.
Have you tried the boards on www.kellymom.com? They have a lot of good advice there and can really help you be sure it's not something that can be resolved without medicine.
And Jamie, don't apologize...we all want to hear from you. Our biggest concern right now with Amelia is scaphocephaly. She'll need a helmet or banding at least. Just hoping it's entirely positional and there's no fusion involved.

I would like nationalized health care... (and no don't tell me how it will not work, I know that, just in an ideal world, if it could work I would LOVE it)!!!
